In a large mixing bowl or a stand mixer, combine the warm water, yeast, sugar, salt and 3 cups of flour. Mix the ingredients until fully incorporated. Add the remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time and knead until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and is no longer too sticky. Continue kneading the dough for 5 minutes.
Remove the dough from the bowl onto a lightly floured or greased surface. Roll the dough into a large rectangle about 12-13 inches wide. With a pizza cutter, cut the dough in half lengthwise and cut 1 inch thick slices in width.
Place the dough strips about 1/2 inch apart on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let them rise for 30 minutes in a warm spot.
While the dough is rising, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until light golden brown.
Place the butter in a microwave safe dish and microwave on high for 45 seconds - 1 minute or until the butter is fully melted. Brush the melted butter onto the breadsticks and sprinkle the Parmesan cheese and garlic salt on top. Serve warm and enjoy!
