One of my favorite treats is fresh strawberries topped with sweet cream. I love the sweet and tart combination. My love for carbs runs deep though so I knew I had to recreate it in a cinnamon roll form. These strawberries and cream rolls have a light cream frosting with a fresh strawberry filling. It is absolutely delicious and may be my new favorite cinnamon roll flavor. Give them a try today, I promise you will love them!
Strawberries and Cream Rolls Recipe
To create these delicious strawberries and cream rolls, mix together 2 cups warm water, 1 tablespoon of yeast and 2 3/4 cups of flour in a large mixing bowl attached to a stand mixer. (This recipe can also be done without a stand mixer if you want). Let the mixture rest for 10 minutes.
Next, add 1/2 a tablespoon of salt, 1/4 cup of oil, and 1/4 cup of honey to the mixture. Mix in 2 3/4 cups to 3 3/4 cups of flour, adding the flour 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl while mixing. Knead the dough for about 5-8 minutes until the dough is smooth.
Cover the dough and allow it to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Remove the dough from the bowl onto a clean surface and roll into a large rectangular shape about 15″ x 30.”
Spread 1/4 to 1/3 of a cup of softened butter evenly over the surface of the dough. Sprinkle a 6 ounce package of unprepared strawberry Jello to cover the butter. Top with about 1/2 pound of chopped fresh strawberries.
