One of my all-time favorite sides to a meal is breadsticks! I love how versatile they can be and how they add a touch of flavor to any dish. These breadsticks are especially perfect because not only are they delicious, but they can be completed in only one hour. They are perfect for those busy days or when you forget about dinner and need to put something together fast – or am I the only one who does that? Either way, busy or not, these breadsticks are the perfect addition to dinner time!
To begin, add the warm water, yeast, sugar, and salt into a large mixing bowl. Add 3 cups of flour and mix until incorporated. Continue adding flour, 1/2 cup at a time, and knead until the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl and isn’t too sticky. Continue kneading for 5 minutes.
Remove the dough from the bowl onto a lightly floured or greased surface and roll the dough into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick and about 12-13 inches wide. With a pizza cutter, slice the dough in half lengthwise and then into strips about 1 inch thick in width.
Place each strip of dough onto a greased baking sheet about 1/2 inch apart. Cover and let them rise for 30 minutes in a warm location. While the breadsticks are rising, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they are light golden brown.
Melt 4 Tablespoons of butter and brush onto the breadsticks. Then sprinkle the grated Parmesan and garlic salt on top. Serve warm and enjoy!
