Hi there! My name is Danielle and I am excited to get to know you! I want to share a little about me and how I got started baking bread.
When I was about 7 years old, I remember Santa bringing me my most favorite childhood gift – an easy bake oven. I was so excited! I used that oven for years constantly begging my parents for more and more mixes, so that I could make cookies for my older brothers and delicious miniature cakes for my family. I loved that toy!
As I grew older, I realized that making those little mixes in that tiny oven were not quite as gourmet as my little 7-year-old self originally thought, but I gained a passion for baking and creating recipes from that time on!
I love being in the kitchen and having my whole home filled with the aroma of something delicious baking in the oven.
My favorite? Freshly baked bread! I grew up with my mom making homemade bread almost weekly (yes, I know how lucky I was). As you can imagine, I watched her make it many times over the years, but my first attempt making bread on my own was in college.
I did okay on my first attempt, at least up until it came time to start kneading the dough. I wasn’t quite sure what to do with the sticky mess in front of me, but luckily I had a friend who did. She patiently taught me how to knead dough correctly. That first loaf was far from perfect, but I was so excited when it came time to pull it out of the oven and sample my own creation. It lit a fire inside me to keep trying.
Over the years I have greatly improved in my bread baking and have learned a few tricks along the way that I am excited to share with you.
Slicing through a perfectly baked loaf of bread brings me great joy and I hope I can help you experience that same joy with me.
Come make bread with me! I know if I can do it, anyone can and I hope you will!
